Our Story
We believe every great company is built on good.
Originating in our Nation’s capital, Tenacity Group was birthed as an ally to local Tenant Associations. In Washington DC, tenants have the right to organize and buy their buildings — yet they did not always have the private capital or expertise to put together a deal. Our founders saw a need for advocacy and leadership and met it by empowering tenants toward ownership. It’s this type of ingenuity and grit that has marked our team’s 25-year history as real estate developers and community innovators.

1993
Michael & Fitz first met. Together, they worked on their first condominium conversion project which resulted in the formation of our first name iteration, Capital City Builders.
1995
The duo began performing other condo conversions (referred by DC government or other tenant lawyers). After a few years of success, we decided to rebrand and solidify the business as Tenacity Group. Tenacity: Tenants in the City.
2002
We won the National Cathedral building through self-funded litigation for the benefit of the tenants — a meaningful milestone.
2003 - 2013
Growth. Survival. Maturity.
2014
Somerset House selected as the winning property for Delta Associates’ 18th Annual Apartment and Condominium Industry Awards for Excellence in the category of Best Condominium Conversion.
2019
Today, Tenacity continues to tackle complex challenges all across the DC Metro region. Taking on a craftsmen approach, we've committed to the mastery of providing long-term value through long-range vision.
